Hello there,

My name is Elizabeth Hughes and I am the owner and creator of Sweet Thing Bakery. In this post I am going to share more about us, our current opening date, our sales plans, and our future plans with you. We are super excited for this new journey ahead and hope you will join us in this fun new adventure.
About Sweet Thing:
Sweet Thing is a fun punk themed home bakery created by me, with the help of my lovely husband Conner. Its punk themed because we both have a huge love of punk music, and punk culture and thought it would be fun to have an undertone of that within our business since our whole life already revolves around it. Punk music is what connected my husband and I to meet, its what I love to talk about, listen to while baking, Punk music and its culture is so special and near and dear to my heart. Sweet Thing prioritizes the use of fresh, and local ingredients. We love our city, and we love all the farmers who create such amazing produce, and we love supporting local, hard working people. Our menu changes seasonally, using local produce that is perfect for each season.

About Me:
I was home-schooled as a kid and my mom had signed me up to take Wilton cake decorating classes, she didn't like the fact that I was home all the time and not getting any outside experiences. That exact moment of taking those classes is what immediately sparked my love for baking. I was always baking cakes for local friends and family to buy at the age of 12! In high school I was involved in my after school culinary club, I joined a management competition team that won 2nd in the state which then granted me a bunch of scholarships. It was in that moment that I realized I could bake as a full time career and I was so excited to continue the opportunity to learn. I graduated college with an Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. Since then I've just been working really hard everyday to continue to learn and grow my skills. I love learning and I love creating pastries for people, I truly feel so lucky and happy that I found my passion.

Grand Opening: March 1st 2025!
We are working so hard to develop and finalize our spring menu, we are so excited to share all the amazing recipes we have developed for spring!
How to get Sweet Thing?
We are offering a few ways to get our baked goods!
Local PDX Friends: You can come pick up your orders during a limited time window.
Friday- Tuesday: 4:00PM-7:00PM
Wednesday-Thursday: 7:00AM-7:00PM
Delivery: For an extra fee, people who are within our map of available areas to receive delivery can choose to have their orders delivered.
Online: Anyone in the U.S. can order our goods online to be shipped to them, the menu is a bit more limited to help ensure we are sending you the best quality goods.
The Future Plans:
We are working very hard to get ourselves ready to hopefully one day be apart of the bigger Farmers Markets. We love the farmers market and how much support it gives to people starting small businesses and to our local farmers. Until then we will share regular updates with you when we go to other makers events, and markets.
